An Android Powered Wi-Fi Network

چکیده
Computer networks are used for the easy sharing of data and resources within a closed user group. These networks find use in a plethora of scenarios. This paper describes an App in Android which enables the android devices in a particular Wi-Fi network to join a private wireless network such as an office. Users entitled to use this particular app can share messages and data without using any paid carriers. Data exchanged will be highly secured since unauthorized access to the network is prohibited. Users can make audio and video calls within the network. App can be used to stream live video within the Wi-Fi network as well, if the android device used does have a video camera. Automatic Android-based Wireless Mesh Networks
Android devices are portable, equipped with powerful processors, and can act as both mesh routers and clients through Wi-Fi Direct, making them a suitable platform from which to deploy a wireless mesh network. To allow Android devices to automatically establish and participate in a wireless mesh network, we circumvent two key problems of the Android’s Wi-Fi APIs: lack of direct support for ad-h...

The Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm aims to interconnect a variety of heterogeneous Smart Objects (SO) using energy-efficient methodologies and standard communication protocols. A majority of consumer devices sold today come equipped with wireless LAN and cellular technology to connect with the world-wide network. To discover Wi-Fi hot spots, there is a need for constant scanning of Wi-Fi rad...
متن کاملDENIAL OF CONVENIENCE ATTACK TO SMARTPHONES USING A FAKE WI-FI ACCESS POINT by ERICH DONDYK
In this paper, we consider a novel denial of service attack targeted at popular smartphone operating systems. This type of attack, which we call a Denial of Convenience (DoC) attack, prevents non-technical savvy victims from utilizing data services by exploiting the connectivity management protocol of smartphones' operating systems when encountered with a Wi-Fi access point. By setting up a fak...

متن کاملWi-Fi Localization using RSSI in Indoor Environment via a smartphone
The widespread availability of wireless networks (Wi-Fi) has created an increased interest in harnessing them for other purposes, such as localizing mobile devices. While outdoor positioning has been well received by the public, its indoor counterpart has been mostly limited to private use due to its higher costs and complexity for setting up the proper environment. In this paper, we use local ...
